The colors of dusk.

Spring is in the air! The nights are stretching out a bit every night. This was the sky on my way home tonight.

Here we go again!

I wish you a most happy, loving, and exciting 2014! I’m counting my blessings while reeling through memories from the year we just wrapped up. Here’s to the next lap ’round the sun. Cheers!

Upriver.

It was another beautiful day. Clear blue sky, temps in the 60s. We went back out to the lake for a sail with Teri and Jim. The lake is at 628.23′. Up about 10 feet from our low this year. Not nearly enough, but I can tell the difference.
Keep it coming!
This is a shot of the breakwater in front of Lakeway Marina as we sailed past.

Orange you wishing you were here?

Saturday on the lake. Raftup with Kurt & Kevin on Dancer. What a glorious sunset sky.

The full moon rose as the sun set.

If the clouds break we might get a glimpse of the Leonids meteor shower or the comet ISON.

Four month high.

We rafted up last night with Lori, Dave & Jake on Camelot, and Rory & Greg on Sapphire.  It was a fun night in the cove, as usual.   It’s a treasure, to me… time spent with friends, just sitting outside, on a boat, on a pleasant evening, playing music, dancing a little, and chatting and making one another laugh.

After the rain of the last month the lake is actually up about 7 feet.   The bulk of the deluges that hit Austin missed the basin that feeds the lake, so we are up only 7 feet instead of 20 or 30 feet.    At 625.5′, Lake Travis is back up to what it was 4 months ago.   My blog post on July 6th included a shot of the cove at the same level as it is today.  On that day, 625.5′ was a 50 year low, and dropping.   Today it’s a 4 month high.   I’ll take it, though.  Keep praying for rain.

This is a shot I took of Nirvana at anchor, as I was paddling around the cove this morning.

Embrace the weekend.

I love weekends. This was the sunrise outside my front door this Saturday morning.

New dawn.

I woke up this morning extra early – given the time change yesterday.  This was the glorious sunrise sky that lay right out side the front door.  I was prompted to go out and take a look when i noticed that the light coming in through the windows was making the entire inside of the house glow pink.

And, what is that sparkle on the horizon?  Could it be something new coming my way….?

Bazillion-th in line for takeoff.

I’m headed back home.  There was a very long line of planes ahead of us waiting to takeoff.  I counted over twenty.

Earlier this morning, as I was driving down the Taconic State Parkway, I saw an exit sign for the Donald J Trump State Park.  It was one exit before the Franklin D Roosevelt State Park.   Now, I get why FDR has one, but does it strike anyone else as odd that Trump has a state park named after him?

Coincidentally, The Donald and I were both at LGA at the same time today.   Go figure.

Workday – part II.

On the road ahead of sunset.  A long evening work session awaits.  Ni ni.

Room with a view.

I made my way to the bottom of Manhattan for a meeting in the financial district today.  The conference room we were in all day had this great view of the Hudson River.  The ferry on the right is headed over to Ellis Island.  And to the left is Liberty Island, graced by the Statue of Liberty.  My dad and my mom’s dad both entered this country through Ellis island, which was the home for NYC immigration processing between 1892 & 1954 (according to Wikipedia).  A very special landmark.

Lake bound.

Hit the lake after work with Colleen and Julie. We’re anchoring out tonight.
Saw two of these flying contraptions. One of them flew right by us as we were sailing and circled the mast.

Later, yet another stunning Lake Travis sunset.

I ♥ LGA.

I’m in NY for a few days for work.  I’m headed upstate but I prefer to fly into LGA and drive, as opposed to flying into one of the smaller airports up north.
I was on the wrong side of the plane to get a great cityscape shot from the air.  So this one from the runway will have to serve.

I’ve always liked this ironwork/fence outside of baggage claim – get it? the big apple…

American Airlines has been a fixture at LaGuardia forever.  The first airline VIP lounge debuted here in 1939 now known as the Admirals Club.  What a great idea, AA!   I don’t travel as much for work as I used to a few years back.  It used to be that the bartender in the lounge would greet me with my “usual” when I walked in. 🙂   I’ll have to try it again on this trip home.
One more pic.  This one from the gate area as we were pulling in.  One of the original vintage but still in use American Airlines hangars, with one of the new logo jet paint jobs parked beside it.

Red sky at night.

We tried a new restaurant tonight. After arriving back at the house, the sky was lovely and pink. Good omen?

A little later the crescent moon popped into view.

And my fortune tonight:

We shall see…

Olympic sunset.

So pretty. The sun setting behind the Olympic mountains.
