Werking (on the road).

It’s Friday so I must be headed home.

I know this is a poor quality photo of the NY skyline. It looks clearer to me, fwiw. The tallest building on the left is the new Freedom Tower standing guard over ground zero.

I ♥ LGA.

I’m in NY for a few days for work.  I’m headed upstate but I prefer to fly into LGA and drive, as opposed to flying into one of the smaller airports up north.
I was on the wrong side of the plane to get a great cityscape shot from the air.  So this one from the runway will have to serve.

I’ve always liked this ironwork/fence outside of baggage claim – get it? the big apple…

American Airlines has been a fixture at LaGuardia forever.  The first airline VIP lounge debuted here in 1939 now known as the Admirals Club.  What a great idea, AA!   I don’t travel as much for work as I used to a few years back.  It used to be that the bartender in the lounge would greet me with my “usual” when I walked in. 🙂   I’ll have to try it again on this trip home.
One more pic.  This one from the gate area as we were pulling in.  One of the original vintage but still in use American Airlines hangars, with one of the new logo jet paint jobs parked beside it.

Exit row aisle.

Flew to Las Vegas today. I don’t really need it, but I simply must have an exit row aisle seat when traveling coach. It makes those tall guys green with envy.

I was hoping to get a good shot of the LAX airport tower, but didn’t have an unobstructed view. Can you spot it?

I’m staying at the MGM Grand. Come on by and see me. I have plenty of room!

Hangin’ with the Admiral.

On the road again.
On the road again.

I’m headed to Raleigh for the week.  I couldn’t avoid the always-dreaded connection today through Chicago.  But am pleased to see it sunny and clear outside here as I arrived.    I guess I’m only delayed when I’m on my way home….?

I’m trying to avoid all the coughing, sneezing, sniffling fellow travelers.  (Obligatory play-on-a-memorable-movie-quote:  “I see sick people!”)  Wish me luck.

Taking refuge in the Admiral’s Club.

Traveling for business sucks.

Today is my sweetie’s birthday.  It’s bad enough that I’ve been out of town all week, but my itinerary today got me home by about 4:30pm.  So we had made plans to celebrate this evening.

But, here I sit, in the Raleigh Airport.  My flight was delayed, delayed, delayed… and then cancelled, due to problems with the plane.   They’ve re-booked me several times, and now I won’t get home until about 11:30pm.   Maybe I can make it to the house before midnight.

Happy Birthday, Monte!    I’ll be there as soon as I can  🙂

Friendly skies.

Homeward bound.

Headed back to Austin for a laundry run.  It drizzled in Dallas this afternoon.  On the approach to AUS I was hoping that was a thundercloud, but it was not.

Today is the last day of Summer 2011.  Sad, but hoping cooler and, more importantly, wetter weather lies ahead.

Almost home

I’m on my way back home, flying through Dallas.  This is a shot from the SkyLink train as I dashed between terminals.

Since I’m traveling again, I renewed my Admiral’s Club membership that I let expire when I was on leave from work.  It makes flying a tad more tolerable.   American has finally enabled wireless for no charge in the lounges.   That makes it even more worth it.

Hurricane Alex made landfall in Mexico and the rain bands have made their way up as far as Austin for the last few days while I’ve been in NY.   Water for the garden, yay!

I’m looking forward to the 3-day weekend.   Lake.  Friends.  Laughs.  Fireworks.  Relaxation.
