The wildflower patch out back didn’t yield much last year. This year we have a few patches of bluebonnets. They’ve started to show their beautiful colors.
Oh, and Happy St. Patrick’s day!

What a party! John and Debbie were awesome hosts for the ball last night. Dancing and merry making ensued til the wee hours. Today we’re headed for home. But first we drove around town one more time.
This is a shot of the lovely cathedral downtown:
One of the trees along the parade route, be-decked with beads:

We met Asha & Shekhar, Maxia & Ralph, and Patrick and Rita for brunch at Blue Dog Cafe. The food was absolutely DElicious. If you are anywhere near Lafayette you should stop in for a bite. The place is lined with artwork from George Rodrigue, a native of these parts, and who also co-owned the cafe until he passed away last year. I took a shot of one of his many works in the cafe:

We made it back home tonight, and were greeted by temperatures in the 20s! Brrrrr.
On the drive home today I saw that the bluebonnets are already in bloom along Highway 71 (!) Early, but hopefully a good year for them.
More later!
The weather this winter has been a roller coaster of sunny-and-70s then sleet-and-20s-and-30s. About three or four turns so far and one more on the way tomorrow. It was a beautiful day today, so I threw open the windows and took a walk through the greenbelt.
Along the way I came across this rock and saw a face in it (sort of). If i squint a bit i think i can make out Jay Leno…

Our friends Teri and Jim are visiting us this weekend – some of our good sailing buddies who moved out of state a couple years ago. We had a fun reunion party last night. Today we went to the lake and anchored out for a few fun hours. We made it back to the marina in time for a pretty sunset sky. The moon is the nearly full Cold Moon.

What a difference a week makes. Last Saturday we spent the night on the boat and enjoyed a sunny weekend with temps in the 80s. This week the temps are in the 30s with lots of wind and rain. This morning I took a walk in the rain through the greenbelt at the end of our street. A creek cuts through the woods there. But it is dry most of the time, due to the endless drought. Today there is a creek where one should be.
