I have learned that today, July 26th, is National Aunt & Uncle’s Day! Julie spoiled us with a fantastic home cooked dinner tonight. It was special and delicious. Yummmmm

Empty nest.
Not ones to miss a taproom visit opportunity, we left an hour early to take Fran and family to the airport, stopping in at the Live Oak Brewing Company right across the highway from the Austin airport. It sure beats the cellphone lot!
Back home, the house is sadly quiet. Except for Keeto asking “who’s here?” We await our next visitors!
Colleen sent me these cute wine glass charm birdies. We tried them out last night. Cheers!
Meat-o-rama.
My sister and her family are visiting us for a week. We are having more fun than six people should. We tubed the San Marcos River today, and hit the Salt Lick BBQ in Driftwood for dinner on the way home. Delicious.
Welcome back, Celis!
We attended tonight’s Grand Opening for the new Celis Brewery. Celis opened in 1992 producing award winning local craft beer. Sadly, it closed in 2000. But the original founder’s daughter worked hard to make todays re-opening of Celis Brewery a reality, 25 years from the original brewery’s birthday. Cheers!
Pizza and beer.
We met up for lunch today with old friends that were visiting Austin for the day. Pinthouse Pizza did not disappoint. Lots of local beers on tap. Check them out!
Low country brrrrl.
The birds and the bees.
The hummingbird feeders are getting quite a lot of traffic these days. Between the bees, the hummers and the finches, they’ll empty one of these in a day. I had just refilled this feeder and by the time I got back into the house, these two had already stopped for a drink.

Hummingbird Nectar
1 part sugar : 4 parts H2O
Bring to a boil for several minutes.
Let cool completely. You can refrigerate any extra for a week or so.
Probably shouldn’t leave in the feeder for more than a day or two.
Sunday brewery touring, resumed.
We took a break there for a while from our taproom exploration. But we’re back. First stop, 4th Tap Brewery Cooperative; have a nice flight!

Next: Oskar Blues Brewery; good tunes, too. I learned a new word here: zymurgy. See, it’s an educational tour.
We stopped for dinner along the way, but finished at Austin Beerworks:
It’s a party.
Whew! We had a doozie of a party last night to celebrate Dave’s birthday and Jake’s graduation. Fun times. 🙂

Friday!
Autumn in May?
Two volunteer pumpkins have been harvested from the compost pile. A little early for pie, don’t you think?

Pesto seedlings.
Monte’s been keeping the basil coming all spring. Yum.

This little piggy went to market…
I can’t believe it has taken me so long, but today I visited Texas Farmers’ Market at Lakeline Mall this morning – open 9am to 1pm every Saturday. They set up right in front of Dillard’s in the parking lot. I really enjoyed it, and the beautiful day that came with it. They have all sorts of fare: veggies, cheese, meat, eggs, bread, sweets, olive oil, pasta, flowers, doggie treats, live music, sweet smelling pamper products, a little place to sit down and rest, and more. I’ll be back.
