Happy Valentines Day, me hearties!

Lovely flowers from my sweetie. Thx to Jamie for the cute button! And, monte, if you’re reading this, your present is under the pile of laundry on the chair. 🙂

Tulips of white.

Monte brought home a set of tulips. My favorite, as you probably have learned. These are white and gorgeous.

Fyi, Google says January 17 is National Tulip Day in Holland. Go get you some!

Hello dahlia!

I passed a front yard full of dahlias in bloom today.  This one was leaning over the chain link fence for me to take its picture.

Lovely blooms.

I happened across a rose garden today. I just had to stop and smell a few.

A pair of old boys.

Drove by a house today that has a pair of majestic century plants going into bloom, one on either side of their driveway.

They say these agaves bloom, and then die, after 100 years.  Google sez it takes more like 20-40 years.  Either way, it’s a sight to see.

Both of these must have been planted when the home was first built about 35 years ago.

Same hiker, different woods.

I took a walk through a nearby park today. Different scenery than the shaded, lush, tall forest paths up north. But nice to be here.

Lots of gaillardia (aka Indian blanket) around. Another one of my favorites.

And a few of mom’s favorite flowers:

Golden chain tree.

Aka Liburnum, this tree is dripping with chains of golden blossoms. This AM the sun rise seemed to be focused squarely on this one tree. Very pretty.

And Happy Mother’s Day!

Scenes from the forest.

I took a stroll through the woods on my first day back up here in the Pacific Northwest.

Unfurling ferns.

Aloe Vera in bloom.

Over the years, we’ve amassed quite a collection of aloe vera plants. Some plants Monte has had for 20 years or so.
This year we were surprised to see the grand daddy plant sending up a spike of flowers. Google sez this is common, even though it’s a first for us. Who knew?!

Tulip hexaptych.

I may have mentioned that I love tulips. 🙂 And, I’m always amazed at how much they continue to grow after I put them in a vase. I brought home a bunch of gorgeous light pink ones on Saturday. Then I proceeded to take a snapshot for the next six days to capture their growth day to day. Kinda cool.

April 6 – Staying put.

Sunday, April 6.

After the marathon day we had yesterday, we’re taking it easy today.   We all dinghied over to Cistern Point and snorkeled for quite a while.

More swimming with the fishies.

Between Cistern Point and our boat, a turtle was hanging out.  He was one cool dude – he didn’t mind that we floated close by to watch him for quite a while.   These are the best pictures I’ve gotten of a turtle of all my Caribbean trips.  I like how the colors get clearer and more vibrant as he gets closer to the surface.

The guys are headed back to Jost again today.   Tan-a-na’s crew leaves early tomorrow morning, so they are headed back to Tortola to spend the night at the marina.  After lunch we shopped ashore and enjoyed people/boat watching all afternoon, before hitting happy hour again on Cooper.

For sunset, we dinghied out to the mouth of the bay, beyond the anchorage, to get an unobstructed view of the sun setting over Tortola.

Yep. Tulips.

From a week or so ago, but I didn’t get a chance to post.

Tulips. AND they’re orange. Sweet.

Is it spring yet?

Bonnets of blue.

The wildflower patch out back didn’t yield much last year.   This year we have a few patches of bluebonnets.   They’ve started to show their beautiful colors.IMG_3027

Oh, and Happy St. Patrick’s day!
