Celebrate.

This week we drove down to Houston to celebrate the birthday and anniversary of friends of ours, Asha and Shekhar.

I’ve known Asha for over 35 years, which seems strange just typing that. We were roommates way back when. We ended up moving to the same state, though different cities. She’s always reached out to remain connected over the years, and for that, I am thankful. I’ve enjoyed her family as it grew over the years, attending her wedding, and getting to know her husband and her strong, successful daughters as they’ve grown up.

Good day.

Happy birthday Monte! We celebrated by working in our ginormous yard all day. Then we grabbed sushi for dinner and enjoyed some homemade birthday cake for dessert. Yummmm.

… to our Laura!

We celebrated Laura’s birthday by a visit to the Blanton Museum, played ping-pong at SPiN, and then shared delicious nibblies and drinks downtown.

A really fun night!

I made Monte a chocolate Guinness cake for his birthday (recipe here). I put a little chocolate powder in the icing (link for that is also in the recipe for the cake) so it would be tan colored instead of white. You know, so I could put a little beer foam on top along with the signature shamrock 🙂

Birthday budgie.

When we adopted Keeto last year, he was approximately 6 weeks old. Based on that we guesstimated his birthday to be August 15. Today marks the completion of his first lap around the sun. Happy Birthday birdie!
