Sunset at the marina.

We headed to the marina this afternoon to work on the boat.  We were treated to a lovely sunset when we were done.

A day in the life of the sky.

We spent Saturday & Sunday nights on the lake this past weekend with Marty & Sue.   As I looked back over the photos I took, I was captivated by the different colors in the sky from shot to shot.  These are several from a 24 hour period, Saturday evening to Sunday evening.

Life is good.

Swallow-ed tail?

Walking back and forth through the backyard yesterday, I spotted a yellow butterfly snacking on some lantana.   I went in the house and got my camera to try to get a shot or two.  This is the clearest one.   I believe it is a kind of  swallowtail butterfly.   But it appears that something has nipped the tail end of his wings.   I’m sure he has some stories to tell…

Wandering sun.

I spent this weekend on the lake with some girlfriends on Nirvana.  In the cove that we anchored in, there is a lovely view of both the sunset and the sunrise.

Purple mountains’ majesty…

Mount Rainier today.  I wish I could have washed the window before we took off 🙂OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

View from the 18th green.

We golfed at Alderbrook Golf & Yacht Club yesterday with Fran and Art.  It was a great day!  This shot from the 18th green looks west over Hood Canal towards the Olympic Mountains.

Through the rain forest.

A misty, drizzly day led to a very enjoyable trek through the Olympic National Forest, walking along trails on Walker Mountain, a drive through Quilcene, a Fat Smitty’s burger in Discovery Bay, antiquing in Port Townsend, a little geocaching, climbing through 100 year old bunkers at Fort Worden State Park, and walking to the beach to see the Strait of Juan de Fuca and Point Wilson Lighthouse.

A few shots from the day…

Happy place.

We spent Friday night and Saturday morning in Cow Creek, one of the loveliest coves on Lake Travis.  In the morning we had the entire cove to ourselves.  We each took a turn kayaking around it.  The wall has water perpetually seeping out showering the lake below and there are curtains of mineral deposits and caves along its face.    It’s a beautiful thing.

Glorious skies.

Good morning!

The round rock of Round Rock.

We went to a Round Rock Express minor league baseball game tonight.  We won 4-2 in the bottom of the 9th on a three run, over the fence home run.   Exciting finish.

On the way up there we stopped at the Chisholm Trail park on Brushy Creek.  In the middle of the creek is a large limestone rock, eroded on all sides, which back in the day became known as a marker of the low-water crossing of the creek for indians, travelers and cattle drives of the 1800s.  This is the rock that Round Rock, Texas is named after.

I can’t believe we’ve lived here for 20 years and have never seen THE round rock.   Better late than never.
