Tonight, I decided to get the manual for my camera out to learn about all the settings I haven’t used yet.
I’m still reading.

I took a walk out back after work tonight. We’ve been keeping an eye out for signs of bluebonnets. Usually by late Fall they have started to leaf out. Unfortunately, this year they seem to be getting a very late start.
Last year was a phenomenal year for bluebonnets. I can’t wait to see how our wildflower patch grows this year.
A few weeks back I noticed a ton of seedlings in the way back, each showing 2 tiny round leaves. I looked them up online and found that indeed they are the cotyledon for the Texas bluebonnet.
So, I’ve been on the lookout for the first few leaves making an appearance.
Overall this guy is is about an inch and a half wide.
Grow, baby, grow!

Santa brought a pasta roller accessory for the kitchen-aid mixer. We tried the spaghetti and fettuccine cutters a few weeks back.
Tonight we made ravioli for dinner… with a little goat cheese and spinach filling, a little feta and anchovy filling.
I’m pretty sure this is what kitchen islands were invented for 🙂

In the stand of trees out back there are very aggressive thorny vines that love to climb all the way to the top of the canopy of the 30+ foot tall trees. When we first moved in they were pretty well established. But we tried to pull most of them down and cut the new growth. Every Fall we fight the ones that have grown since the last time we cut them down.
This is what they do if left alone for many years. Poor tree.

The wide-ranging winter weather in Central Texas is driving me crazy. One day it’s freezing, another it’s sunny and lovely…. freezing… sunny…..you get the picture.
The Shutterday photo challenge for Saturday was a snowman, so I dug up one of my favorite snowglobes to share with you – a momento from when I lived in nearby Louisiana.

There’s just something about a Saturday morning that feels different than Monday-Friday. A little less deadline pressure and stress to wake up to. This morning is a beautiful, sunny one. I caught my reflection in the coffee pot and decided it would serve as a good self-portrait for this morning.

One year ago today our little blue birdie, Petey, went to the giant birdcage in the sky. He has been on my mind today, so though it’s not a photo I took today, it’s the moment I want to share. This was taken when he was 4 or 5. He lived 9+ years!
I miss our chatty friend…. Pretty pretty pretty pretty pretty pretty biiiiiird.

I am currently experiencing clean-window-euphoria – had the windows washed today! I don’t do windows, but I’ve been using Sunn Window Cleaning for several years and they are awesome! They clean every little piece of glass individually on my leaded glass windows in the entryway.
I really should do this more often 😉

Monday is quickly drawing to an end. This is the time of day that I look forward to.
Soon the days will be long enough to drive to the lake after work for a quick sunset sail. For now, I’m happy to take a quick snap of the sky as it changes from blue to yellow to pink on our way to dinner.
