No special reason for this shot today. I simply noticed some light reflecting off this hanging glass panel when I walked through the room…. so it caught my eye. I would love to learn how to work with stained glass one day. This is a piece that I bought on one of my Pecan Street Festival excursions many years ago — and still enjoying it.
We enjoyed another great morning on the lake. Seven boats in this raftup – Tippy, Cupholder, Prelude, Caribbean Hug, Dancer, Cool Breeze, and Y No Hago Mas Na. 12 big kids, 11 young kids and 2 dogs.
We are rafting up tonight with friends in one of the Arkansas Bend coves. We always see these little dragonflies about. This one let me get pretty close.
As I sit in my comfy chair and type this post, I’m enjoying a lovely mango marg daiquiri. I am not a huge fan of mixed drinks. I think I got that out of my system a long time ago (whew!). But I have come to enjoy a mango margarita when we go to the local Chuy’s.
So, for the last year or two I’ve been on the lookout for a good mango mixer to try to make one at home. Some that I’ve tried have been pretty poor. Last week I ran across a liter of mixer, the brand is Finest Call, so I decided to give it a try tonight. Not bad.
I had intended to make a margarita, but grabbed the rum instead, so — voila, it’s a daiquiri.
This is the moment I have chosen to share with you today. I hope you enjoy it as much as I am.
Pretty good mango marg/daiquiri recipe
2 oz mango puree (the label called for 4, but it would be way too sweet, imho)
1.5 oz rum or tequila
1.5 c crushed ice
combine in blender for 30 seconds
Rob made a quick run down to the coast yesterday and came back today with over a dozen blue crab that he caught in his traps near Port O’Connor. You know what that means — crab boil! So, we were treated to a fantastic dinner by Rob and Jen. (and, YES, that’s a stone crab claw!) Yum.
I had intended to get a before-picture of the crabs, but Jen and I were having such a good time chatting that we missed it. So, I’ll just have to settle for an after-picture.
Went for a walk after dinner tonight. These are the neighborhood goats that live at the end of the street. Always happy to greet the people walking by in case they’ve brought goodies to eat. Check out their eyes — they have rectangular irises.
We had a ladies’ sale on Camelot today. Then I joined the B-dockers for a while after returning to dock. It finally hit 100 degrees today – for the first time this year.
I kind of fell down on photo duties today, I didn’t take any while I was out and about. So, on the way home from the lake, when I saw this beautiful sunset in my rear view mirror I just had to snap a pic. Since I was driving with the top down I could do it without stopping. Even with the truck behind me, it’s a pretty sight.
I love Saturday mornings. 8 hours of sleep last night was a welcome bonus. The windows on the east side of the house cast lots of early morning light across the floor and walls — they glow with shadows from the trees out front.
Long day. I walked around out back, after the rain had stopped coming down. We’re having a very different kind of summer than last year. It’s the end of July, it hasn’t hit 100 yet, and the rain has been frequent enough to not have to water the lawn much. Nice.
I took this shot of some of the Penta blooms in the garden. I didn’t notice the little spider until I uploaded them to view.
